The Flying Witch and Black Cat of Pongo Island

Look! Up there in the night sky! Is that...? Yes, that is Flying Witch and Black Cat flying high above the houses on Pongo Island. All the little children of the island have been taught to fear the flying witch who only appears during the month of October and disappears the day after Halloween. No one knows where she spends the other 11 months of the year or where she spends her time when she isn't flying through the sky on her broom, but it has been rumored she lives in the spooky abandoned house by the old graveyard on the edge of town. Oh yes, she is a witch to be feared, no doubt. Or is she? What is her story? Just who is this Flying Witch of Pongo Island, and why does she fly through town with her black cat perched on the back of her broom?

If the children (and the adults) of Pongo Island knew her, they would know they have nothing to fear. The flying witch does, in fact, live in the spooky abandoned house by the graveyard on the edge of town, but just inside the double doors of the creepy old house lies a wonderland where it is Halloween all year round! With furniture made of candy corn, chandeliers of beautiful colorful candies and walls lined with licorice wallpaper, the Flying Witch and her Black Cat enjoy their 365-day-a-year Halloween haven. They dance, sing and eat candy in the evenings while playing dress-up and trying on all of their fabulous Halloween costumes. Occasionally, they even have members of their families over for big Happy Halloween parties!

So, if she isn't a mean and creepy old witch, why does she only come out in the month of October, and why does she only fly through the night sky on her broom never speaking to anyone? The fact is, Flying Witch and Black Cat are very, very shy! They like to keep to themselves, but they can't resist the crisp autumn air and the magic of Halloween, so they soar through the night sky, and take in all of the sights and sounds of Pongo Island as the residents get ready for the most awesome time of year; Halloween! So, there is really nothing to fear if you should happen to see Flying Witch and Black Cat high above you on their magical broom. Next time you see them overhead, offer them a little wave. If you're extra nice, maybe, just maybe you will find yourself with an invitation to the next big, Happy, Halloween party at the not-so-spooky, not-so-abandoned house by the old graveyard on the edge of town.
