There was a man by the name of Jim. His full name was Jim the Green Devil. He married a lady by the name of Zuzu the Pink Devil, and soon they had a beautiful little baby who they named Peter. On the day he was born, his mommy told him, “Peter, one day you will grow up to become a great handsome Blue Devil. Everyone will love you and you will save the world.” Since that day forward, he became known as Peter the Blue Devil. When he was a little baby, his mommy and daddy would dress him in the cutest and brightest blue little devil outfits, and teach him the great things that their mommies and daddies taught them. They would take him out into the giant Devil field where they were taken when they were small too. “Son,” Jim would say, “I will teach you the ways of the butterflies, the ways of the panda, and the ways of the black cats. You will one day become a guardian of these great creatures.” And so they would begin. Peter was taught the greatest of spells, the greatest of mystical things. He was taught how to cure the sickness of the trees, and the sorrows of the birds. Day after day, Peter became stronger and smarter.
Jim and Zuzu used to go out each day and they took Peter with them. They would carry their pumpkin bags where they kept all their potions and spells. They would talk to the rabbits and the flowers. They would see their friend the tiny old owl who lived in a tree above the rabbits. And they would cure them of their illnesses and make them all feel better again. Peter would learn from them each day, as he did in the Devil's field, by watching his mommy and daddy. They were loved by all the creatures and plants of the forests.
Then one day, Peter and his parents were sitting in the field, having their lunch of bread and tomato soup. Suddenly, from inside the forest, their friend the old owl hopped to them, and he looked scared. “Jim and Zuzu,” he said. “I have heard from my friend who lives across the sea that a great sickness has fallen over a great island. He has told me that their children are falling sick, and their horses have become very sad, and the trees are losing all their strength. I went to see my friend yesterday, and I have never seen such a sad place in my life. Won't you please help them?” “My dear friend,” Jim said, “Of course we will help them. What is the name of this place? Can you show us how to get there?” “Yes,” the owl replied. “It is called Pongo Island, and I know just the way to get there.” And so Jim, Zuzu, and Peter followed their owl friend through the forest and to a small harbor where the fishing rabbits kept their boats. “Here, take this one. My friend Juju rabbit gave it to me.”
So the three sailed across the sea, and soon they came to the Pongo Island harbor, where they tied their boat and walked through the island. The island's great devil came to see them. His name was Sam the Purple Devil. “Thank you for coming,” Sam said. “I have been trying to cure my friends on this island, but I am too weak. I have never seen any devil who has been able to cure all the things that I see here.” He led them through the forest, where they saw the little rabbits and the trees who were sad. They saw the fish and the flowers too. Soon, they came to a counsel of devils who had gathered to try to help Sam. “We have not been able to do anything about this,” they said. “But we have gotten a great vision today. We have heard that a small devil will come to this island. He will live here for many years, and he will grow here in power. He will become stronger than any devil who has ever lived, and he will then save the Island. His name will be Peter the Blue Devil.”
